Asus EEE Transformer - The Best Laptop for ASUS

Asus Eee Box EB1501 is a second generation Asus Nettop and it is the first ever computer to come with Nvidia's Ion chipset. This chipset brings faster processing power to Net tops and Net books and the biggest highlight is the inclusion of Nvidia GeForce 9400M chip which is a budget 3D chip made for 3D graphics and basic video capabilities. Nvidia says that it will support high definition videos playback at resolution of 1080p.I have seen some GeForce 9400M based machines which can play the 1080p content quite well and the most recent one is Mac Minis from Apple. The ASUS Eee Box EB1501 comes with a few limitations, it can play QuickTime 1080p videos with some choppiness but unlike Dell Inspiron Zino HD and Acer Aspire Revo R1600 (which costs $199), this machine can play the 1080p video files from You Tube and in Windows Media Player smoothly. QuickTime is a big file format and hence smooth playback is important. Flash based sites like Amazon Video on Demand, You Tube and Netflix.com which is powered by Microsoft Silver light will hold the same weight as the iTunes. ASUS Eee Box EB1501 could easily handle all this content without any problems.This machine is made more for online video and in terms of price; the ASUS Eee Box EB1501 is a bit uncomfortable. There are Blue-ray players in the market from LG and Sony which offer wireless network connections and they also have support for online media services like You Tube and Netflix. These devices don't really offer full fledged content through the Web they are still good alternative with a price range of $250 and $275. There are also machines like Gateway SX2840-01 which cost $550 and this machine is a lot faster than ASUS Eee Box EB1501.There are also some good laptop computers available as an alternative like Asus Eee PC 1001P. It is from the Asus Seashell line up and looks pretty identical to 1005PE-P. The looks are less svelte as compared to the thicker 1008HA and there are curved panels along with sharper look. The manufacturer hasn't used glossy lid and maybe it is because glossy surfaces attract a lot of fingerprints. Glossy surfaces are very common in laptop computers these days. Instead, Asus has put in a checkerboard textured pattern along with concentric tiny squares. The matte lid doesn't allow accumulation of any smudges and it also gives an expensive look to the system. This pattern is continued on the keyboard deck as well which is again white. The bezel, however, is glossy black.Asus Eee PC 1001P is 10.3 inches by 7 inches by 1.4 inches and the footprint is the same as 1005PE-P. Asus Eee PC 1001P laptop computers is a bit thicker as compared to Toshiba mini NB305-N410. The weight of the Asus system is about 2.8 pounds and this doesn't put a lot of strain on your shoulders when you are carrying it around even with power charger. The entire package is about 3.4 pounds.
