Most of the netbooks that have been launched in 2010 feature 12-inch screens. Compared to the last year, where there was a massive influx of 10-inch netbooks, this new Eee PC from Asus does raises a few eyebrows, chiefly due to its 8.9-inch screen size. Under the hood, you will find the monotonous Intel Atom N270 processor, a 1.6GHz chip that ruled the netbooks in the year 2009 and late 2008.This lilliputian device also features a 160GB hard disk and 1GB of RAM. Other specifications scream the word 'classic' with its VGA port, 4-cell battery, 2x USB 2.0 ports and an 8.9-inch display with 1024x600 pixel resolution. Even the Wi-Fi has not been upgraded to the 802.11n standards. It runs the 9 year old operating system - Windows XP Home instead of standard Windows 7 Starter operating system. The company claims that its 4-cell battery can give you a runtime of about four hours on a single charge.Although from outside, the chassis appears to be similar to the Asus Eee PC 701, but remember that there are only two USB ports on this, while most of the similar sized netbooks feature at least 3 USB 2.0 ports. As mentioned earlier, the Eee PC 900AX will run Windows 7 Starter Edition which is considered as the de facto in netbooks, which also means you will not be able to change the wallpaper. Unfortunately, there are no information on its price, but we are expecting this to be priced at a cheaper end of the Eee PC range.
